  1. Hello Everyone, I just wanted to send out a merry Christmas to everyone as we enter the festive season this week! It has been a while since we have had a festive season since 'the thing that shall not be named' kicked off in early 2020. Some much needed family catch-up is in store. The Events Department will be taking a much needed break from the 22nd of December till the 12th of January. During this time, we will be running our regular events unrostered, and all events will be without an event coordinator. The team deserves a much needed break after the terrific work that they have all done this year. Enjoy the many laughs, catchups and relaxing afternoons that the festive season will bring. We will see you all in 2022!

  2. Hi everyone. A number of changes have occured at the Board level that will be in place for 2022. Last week I accepted Greg's resignation from his Director of ATC Training & Standards role. Greg has made an outstanding contribution over the last 12-18 months and I hope that he will be able to enjoy the hobby once again. I'm pleased to confirm that Sam Keast will take over responsibility for the Director role. He will continue working with Matt Kelly and others in the training department throughout the next 6 months (at least). Sam was the alternative applicant last year for the role and has demonstrated his commitment to the community throughout the last 12 months. The appointment committee for the Director of Technology agreed that Will Smart was the outstanding applicant for the role, and I am happy to report he has accepted the offer. Will brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership experience to the team after extensive time volunteering within the ATC Training Department (including the development and rollout of the TMS). Steve Cullen has asked to take a LoA from the board temporarily due to some personal matters. In the interm, Clem Wu (a long standing member of the Airspace/Documentation team will be acting as Director of Airspace & Publications). Blair has officially been permanently appointed by a committee, to his current role of Director of Membership. I am pleased to announce that Sam Wilson will join Ryan McDonald as non-executive directors for 2022. I would like to thank Shannon for his involvement of the last 12 months. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, however you choose to celebrate. Zach

  10. Thank you Josh, Thank you everyone! I am truly heartbroken to have had to make this decision. The events department has been mine and Josh's little baby for over a year now. I have absolutely loved working with the team that we have built, in addition to some of the long standing members of the team! I was always going to be a long shot, I know that, Josh knows that, you all probably knew it! A Brit, living in Britain, being a senior staff member in the Australian division of this big network that we call home. I have lasted a lot longer than I thought I would, ill be honest, however, the time has now come. My work life, education life, and personal life, unfortunately must take priority, meaning I must leave the demanding role that the Events Manager position is. I am extremely grateful for all of the opportunities that working in VATPAC has given me. However, I am 100 times more grateful for being able to work with my best friend, even if he is over 16000 k's away. I will not forget this part of my life, not one moment... All the best, Cam -

  11. Hi Everyone, I'd like to take a brief moment to wish everyone a Happy Holiday season and a Happy New Year (finally) - I know some members of our community deserve this in particular, given the circumstances of this year. 2021 for VATPAC looks exciting with a fresh new Board of Directors, looking to be padded out nicely with an extremely wide breadth of experience. It will be great to see some old names/faces around the place again, that's for sure. It's been an exciting few months with the release of MSFS2020 and vatSys, for both our Pilots and Controllers respectively. I'm sure there will be even more exciting stuff next year. Now is also an excellent time to reflect on all our involvement in the community and have a think about how we can be better, to strengthen our very small little world of virtual aviation. It always annoys me when I hear of silly grievances that could be resolved with a reasonable discussion turning into something bigger than it needs to be, affecting many people. We have such a tiny community here of only a few thousand members so let's all do our part and make the effort of working together as best we can! You will hear from me again in the New Year as the changes to the staffing structure are implemented. I will also be excited to see the Senior Controller requirements become cemented and clear for any of our members to look forward to. Once again, have a safe and happy time. Stay away from the fire, the floods and the virus! Cheers, -- Zach Biesse-Fitton Acting Director of Division VATSIM Australia Pacific
